I’m on the last stages of this painting, which was started last month. All that is left is to finish the figure and add details like a curtain, dog toy, and sock(s). I’ll probably revisit the bird as well- this is my first time painting my bird (Senegal parrot) and it has been fun! He lives with my parents for now so having him in my current apartment, even just in painted form, was nice. This is my second time using bars from Upper Canada Stretchers and I would recommend them to other artists. The materials are lightweight, good quality, and easy to put together.

Lately I have been waiting until the piece is fully completed before trying to understand it but so far this one feels like an exploration in escapism. I sit in my undefined room in the sky, gazing into the clouds while a colorful guard scares off intruders.

I’ve also been working on more drawings than usual, partly due to the fact that I am moving at the end of this month. Drawing, specifically smaller ink pen drawings, allow me to work with fewer materials and restrictions. Since I have less space and time my focus has been on starting and finishing multiple drawings, rather than multiple paintings. You can check out my previous post for a more detailed description of my line drawings!
